Vugalei Women Ensure Guests Are Catered For

Special guests attending the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) meeting were served by the women of Vugalei in Tailevu Province.
It was more than just service with a smile.
For the 10 women, it was an obligation that became a story to tell their children and grandchildren.
For Akanisi Qoro from Natobuniqio Village in Vugalei it was also a chance to personally meet individuals she only saw in newspapers and on TV.
“We had the honour of serving and conversing with them,” Ms Qoro said.
“It feels surreal and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to participate in an event that benefits the iTaukei community.
“While we come from Vugalei, some of us are married to individuals from other provinces, but when our vanua calls, we answer without hesitation.”
Ms Qoro considered it a blessing to be part of the GCC meeting.
“This is my first time attending a GCC meeting.
The atmosphere is truly unique because we are among chiefs from all 13 provinces,” she said.
“We will never forget this day because it marks our first involvement in such a significant event.”
