Mary Ballentine Chapel in Ba Gears Up for 100th Anniversary Celebration
The historic Mary Ballentine Chapel, located in Nailaga Village, Ba, is preparing to commemorate its 100th anniversary on June 9.
The momentous event is organized by the Ba division in collaboration with the vanua and will take place at the village.
According to Amele Vunisina, a member of the Organizing Committee, the chapel was constructed by their forefathers on June 9, 1923.
“The elders of our community worked at Copra Plantations in Kanacea, Taveuni during those years to gather the necessary funds for this magnificent structure,” she said.
“Today, the chapel proudly stands as a historical icon, symbolizing the rich heritage of Ba Province.”
