Payments To USP Will Continue: Rabuka

Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has assured that his government would continue to make payments to the University of the South Pacific (USP) until all their arrears are cleared.
The Prime Minister, who is currently in Apia for Samoa’s 61st Independence celebration, gave the assurance during a brief press conference at the USP Samoa Campus after he and his wife were taken on a tour of the regional campus facilities.
“We have given the undertaking, we have paid the first instalment and the next one that will be paid will be the annual grant that Fiji should pay to the university,” Mr Rabuka said.
“And we will continue to do that until we liquidate our debts.”
Addressing the USP staff and students after his tour, the Prime Minister said he was once involved with the regional university, as the chairman of the advisory committee of the Labasa Centre (now Campus).
