Ball In Your Court: Ana Mataiciwa To FijiFirst

The Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa has reminded the suspended FijiFirst party that “the ball was in their court” should they want to take part in next week’s Parliament sitting.
Ms Mataiciwa’s comment comes after queries were raised to the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) whether FijiFirst has submitted their audited annual accounts.
She said if they did not submit by June 15 (next Thursday), the FEO would give an extra 30 days which would be July 15, to submit their audited accounts.
“If they still don’t do anything then, we will progress with the deregistration process where we will have to write to them and ask them why they should not be deregistered,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
“The response will determine whether they will have to be deregistered or not. Right now, the ball is in their court. If they want to sit for Parliament next week, they have to comply now,” she said.
