Lilian Naceba Overcomes Challenges To Inspire Siblings

Despite feeling the urge to give up, Lilian Lavenia Naceba drew strength from her younger siblings, who regarded her as a role model, and persevered.
As the eldest of five siblings, the 27-year-old aspired to set a good example for them.
Originally from Welagi Village in Taveuni, with maternal links to Bureta Village in Ovalau, she is one of the 233 intern nurses undergoing induction in Suva, is set to conclude on Friday.
“As the eldest, I feel the responsibility to be a role model for my younger siblings. It can be challenging, but I am aware that they are following in my footsteps,” Ms Naceba said.
“I want to show my siblings that hard work can improve our standard of living and that they too should strive for success.”
With her father being a farmer and her mother a domestic worker, Ms Naceba is well aware of the struggles her parents face, even if they don’t openly express them.
Nursing had always been her lifelong ambition, and she is grateful to have realised her dream career.
“My grandmother served as a nurse, which greatly inspired me to follow in her footsteps. Growing up, I witnessed her dedication in treating patients at the clinic,” she said.
In the next 18 months, Ms Naceba aims to lift her confidence in the field and absorb as much knowledge as possible from senior nurses.
Her determination to learn and grow in her profession reflects her commitment to making a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector.
