FEO: FICAC Investigates The People’s Alliance

Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa said given that a complaint against The People’s Alliance (PA) had been made to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), she would let them conduct the investigation on the matter.
FICAC confirmed receiving a complaint against The PA yesterday.
It is understood that the complaint was in regards to allegations of forgery during the signature collection process prior to the registration of the political party in 2021.
“The FEO to date has not received any complaint officially from both FICAC and the complainant as mentioned in Social Media,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
“The FEO would also like to reassure the general public that the FEO is under new leadership, we are approachable now.
“If anyone has any complaints, we are more than willing to hear from them and follow the processes in place to address the complaints.”
When queried if the FEO would carry out its own investigation on that matter since the signatures were submitted to FEO, she said when proposed political parties submitted an application for registration with the FEO, there was a process in the law that allowed for publication of the application in the newspaper including the application form, the constitution of the party and its list of members.
