The Digicel Young Kulas has booked a spot in the quarterfinal of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) women’s Under- 19 championship.

This was after they defeated Papua New Guinea 2-0 at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

Kasanita Tabua scored the opener in the 40th minute while Evivi Buka slotted the second in the extra time, seconds before the final whistle.

Head coach Angeline Chua said they ticked off their goals for the match.

“The fighting spirit was really good, it was tabu soro theme for us today,” Chua said.

“Our first list was to have a clean sheet and we did that.

“The second was to qualify as underdogs as we were the lowest ranked team on the group pool.

“It’s recovery now for us, and to make sure that they are ready for the quarterfinal.

“We need to work on our finishings for the next game. We missed a lot chances.”

Fiji’s Angeline Rekha was voted the player of the match.
