Union Rep Refused Entry To EFL Depot

John Paul was refused entry to the Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) premises while trying to conduct secret ballot voting at Kinoya Depot in Suva yesterday.
The Construction, Energy, and Timber Workers Union (CETWU) national secretary said EFL security personnel were instructed to stop him from entering the premises.
Therefore, the union had to conduct the voting underneath a mango tree nearby the entrance to the Kinoya Depot.
EFL workers who are members of the CETWU are participating in the strike ballot demanding for an increase in their pay, retirement benefit and other working conditions.
The secret ballot will determine the endorsement for industrial strike against their employer EFL, the biggest utility provider in the nation.
“I was allowed to conduct the voting at the Suva head office. Suddenly this morning, I’m stopped from entering Kinoya premises,” Mr Paul said.
