The Naitasiri rugby team began their Skipper Cup 2023 competition with a morale boosting 29-25 win over a determined Macuata at Subrail Park in Labasa.
The Highlanders had a slender 10-8 lead at half time and had a solid second half.
President of Fiji and Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, was present during the match to inspire the side that a win was possible.
And Macuata did not fail to disappoint with a balance of hard running forwards and skilful fly- back, Niko Yalosolo, orchestrating good attacks.
