Fiji could get out of the debt crisis if investments in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector is fully explored, said Savenaca Narube.
The former governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji said ICT had the potential to drive economic growth.
“It is an excellent idea that we do service for overseas companies,” said Mr Narube.
“We have the man power, we speak English well.
“We have the system. There is a lot we can do.”
Mr Narube made the comment as the business process outsourcing (BPO) was earmarked by Government.
In a recent event, Mr Kamikamica said the ICT sector through BPO could compete with the tourism industry in driving economic growth.
Government plans to amend the ICT Incentive Regulations with new definitions of the ICT business.
It includes qualifying conditions such as minimum investment levels and the minimum number of employees.
