Get On With It!

Let’s get on with the job for the sake of the children and teachers of Fiji.
This was the statement by Selina Kuruleca, yesterday.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) announced her appointment as Permanent Secretary for Education on May 31, 2023.
The process of her appointment has since come under the spotlight after the Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) and the Fiji Teachers Union (FTU) raised concerns to the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro.
Mr Radrodro confirmed receiving correspondence from the teacher’s unions stating their concerns on Ms Kuruleca’s appointment.
Despite all these, Ms Kuruleca is willing to work with Mr Radrodro and the teacher’s unions, for the sake of the children and teachers of the country.
“I know I have an appointment letter,” Ms Kuruleca said.
“I am not there for people to like me; I am not there for anyone; I am here for the children and the teachers of our country.”
She said she had reached out to Mr Radrodro on several occassions, but has not has been able to meet with him.
Ms Kuruleca has signed her contract with the Public Service Commission (PSC), offered her appointment letter and was due to start as PS Education on July 3.
Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Service Sitiveni Rabuka, in a meeting with Ms Kuruleca yesterday, indicated the possibility of moving her to another ministry.
