Ikanivere Keeps Learning From Senior Players

There’s no end to education. This was gist of FIJI Water Flying Fijians hooker Tevita Ikanivere’s interview on how he has been learning from the senior members of the team.
The 23-year-old, who made his Test debut against Georgia in 2020, said this has been an ongoing pro- cess right from their first camp in Welagi, Taveuni.
This time around, Ikanivere is chasing for a Match 23 spot for Saturday’s Punjas Battle of the Pacific opener against Tonga at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
Standing in his way is veteran Northampton Saints’ Sam Matavesi and his Drua teammate, Zuriel Togiatama.
“Preparation is on another level,” Ikanivere said as the team finished their second week of training at the Sigatoka sand dunes last Saturday.
“It’s international rugby and good to learn from the more experienced guys who have been playing for long.”
Ikanivere added that everyone in the 39-member squad were working hard to win a spot in the 33-squad member.
