Entrepreneur Calls For Vigilance

Amidst a surge in online scams, the Fiji Police Force and various other stakeholders have issued multiple advisories and warnings to the public.
These cautionary measures come as a response to the rising number of reported cases of online fraud and scams.
Fiji Police Force spokesperson Ana Naisoro said: “Police, consumer council and various stakeholders have issued advisories and warnings about various forms of online scams and have always advised caution with online buying or conducting any form of online transactions.”
Ilisabeta Waqa, a 43-year-old businesswoman, is worried about the risks that these scams posed as far as businesses are concerned, highlighted the need for careful consideration, particularly when buying cheap products online.
Ms Waqa, who owns Tent nine-Lovo Queen, fell victim to an online scam.
“A lot of businesses have been victimised by these scams,” she said.
“I feel like it is also important for these victims to share their story online because not only would they be saving someone else but they’re raising awareness on such an important issue.”
