3 Under Watch

Fiji Bati Coach Wise Kativerata is impressed with the performance of three secondary schools’ rugby players.
Rugby league coach Kativerata apart from conducting rugby league clinics has been assisting the Mahatma Ghandi Memorial School Under-17 rugby side.
“There are three players who have been playing exceptionally well,” Kativerata said.
“I have their names; hopefully their schools will let them join an Australian rugby league academy as we got a game coming up against Caloundra State High School from Brisbane, Queensland in Australia.
As part of the Junior Bati programme there will be two games against Caloundra on September 30 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
“Most of the boys from Caloundra go to the Melbourne Storm (National Rugby League club) system.”
The three players are Ratu Kadavulevu Under 18 centre Peni Vuetimaiwai, Suva Grammar U17 lock John Jikoibau and Nasinu Secondary U18 center Sivaniolo Lumelume.
“It’s a good pathway for upcoming players as other clubs will come also to watch, “ Kativerata said.
An initial outing against Kirwan High School State team was a success, that is why other overseas schools have been coming here.
“I’m looking forward to coming and watching the Deans, so I’ll be there in the Quarterfinals, “he said.
Kativerata said he will continue to hold clinics and training sessions with other schools in Fiji as he’s been involved with the Mahatma Ghandi Memorial (MGM) Under 17 team progress in rugby league and Union.
