New Trucks For Garbage Collectors

The delivery of a new garbage truck from the Ministry of Local Government will allow the Savusavu Town Council to improve its garbage collection.
Council special administrator Doreen Robinson said for more than three years the council had been using an open tray four-ton truck to collect house garbage.
Sometimes the council hires a four-ton truck to cart rubbish from clean-up campaigns.
“The old compactor truck was off-the-road prior to the appointment of the special administrators and chief executive officer in 2019,” Ms Robinson said.
Household garbage collections are done three times a week while commercial garbage collection is on a daily basis.
Ms Robinson said the garbage collection per week remained the same since there were no significant changes to the number of ratepayers.
