The Lomary Secondary School Under-19 rugby team hopes to create history when the dust settles at Bidesi Park tomorrow.

The Serua-based school is taking on giants Ratu Kadavulevu School in the U19 Vodafone Deans Trophy semifinals.

Head coach Sakiusa Naivalu said the team has been preparing well for their match against RKS.

“We’re happy to reach the semi-final. We’ve work hard in the season, going through obstacles and challenges,” Naivalu said.

“We thank the good Lord as it’s the first time the school is in the semi-finals this year.

“We do not have good facilities; we do not have access to scum machines nor a gym. We have had to improvise ways to train; we’ve made use of the beach as we are located close to the sea.

“We carry out 15 scrummage sessions in the afternoons on a daily basis.

“I told the boys that they really need to work hard to be fit to play in a high tempo competition and we’re looking forward to giving RKS a good game.”

Naivalu said they come in as underdogs against RKS.

“RKS has been playing in the Deans for the past 70 years or so and we see them as the champions.
