Attorney-General Siromi Turaga is not aware of the latest investigation regarding the complaint lodged against Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) commissioner, Rashmi Aslam.

He said that while investigations are ongoing, he was yet to be informed about the latest progression of the case.

“Police were looking at that particular complaint, you should also understand there also a lot of matter the police are investigating.”

In July, acting Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa lodged a complaint against Mr Alsam to the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere citing, failure to declare a conflict of interest he may have with former Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.

It was claimed that FEO’s complaint against Mr Saneem could be compromised and this is evident when comparing the timeframe of investigations of complaints lodged by Mr Saneem against political parties and its candidates in the previous years to the complaints lodged against Mr Saneem.

Mr Siromi said he would be able to disclose more details next week.

“So, it’s one of those things – like me, hands are full.”

“But I can assure you, there’s a lot of matters of interest that the police are conducting.”
