Bula Candy Shop Popular on Port Denarau

With the increasing number of tourists in the country, Rosiana Fernandes felt its effect in her business.
The Brazilian entrepreneur arrived in Fiji in April last year and set up her Bula Candy Shop at the Port Denarau Marina in Nadi.
She invested approximately $75,000 to start her business.
She has seen results and recognition from her customers in the products that she sells.
Her paletas, ice cream, and bubble waffles are all homemade, 100 per cent real fruit, with no preservatives, no artificial flavours, no vegetable fat and low sugar. It has fruit pieces on the stick.
Her aim was to bring a unique product into the market and she did.

The mother of one has lived and run businesses in Australia and New Zealand with her husband, Rafael Silvia Da Rocha.
They prefer doing business in Fiji because of the growth in the tourism industry.
“I felt at home ever since, and every day I feel like this is the place for me.
“Investing here was another challenge for me, but of all the places we had businesses, I prefer Fiji.
“It’s a country where you can clearly see its development. The number of visitors keeps increasing. It’s very gratifying to feel that you are growing along with the country.
“Fiji is a country very similar to Brazil, with an unmatched tropical energy, cheerful people and good vibes.”
The couple now call Fiji home. The 40-year-old added her employees have become her family.
“I still have my wonderful Fijian employees today, the same ones since day one and we have become a family. They are the heart of my business and I’m very grateful to have them.”
Two months ago, Ms Fernandes opened up another business, Bula Park Zone which is located near their candy shop.
This zone was designed for children to have their fun moments in a playful environment.
“Parents can leave their children there while they relax and unwind at the port. Our entire environment was designed with the safety and enjoyment of children in mind, and all our employees are certified,” she said.
They have daily activities such as face painting, braiding, painting, and crafts.
They open daily from 8am to 8pm and they also host birthday celebrations.
