No World Cup Travel for FRU Board of Trustees

None of the Fiji Rugby Union interim board of Trustees is travelling to France for the Rugby World Cup.
This was the message from FRU interim chairman Peter Mazey to Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui, yesterday.
“Although we (Trustees) won’t be there, our support for you and team is always there,” Mazey said.
“I’ll only pay my way over if you reach the semi-final.”
The FRU interim board of Trustees headed by Mazey includes Jenny Seeto, Sikeli Tuinamuana, Alipate Naiorosui and Mosese Naivalu.
“The Trustees stance stays, none of us are being rewarded or paid in anyway, and have a responsibility to ensure we clear all rugby creditors and can take our teams to major event with the right funding in place,” Mazey said.
However, he said during the World Cup, there would be major events organised by World Rugby.
“World Rugby I understand is holding one or two-day meetings with the CEO’s (chief executive officers) and other Country Rugby representatives,” Mazey added.
“At one or two of these it may be advantageous for Fiji Rugby CEO (interim administrator, in this case) or senior management to attend. These are usually arranged and funded by World Rugby,”
