Let’s Go Local: Kadavu for Mobil Cashier
Atelaite Seuvou.

Atelaite Seuvou is a cashier at Mobil Service Station on Victoria Parade in Suva.

Raised in her village of Navuatu in Kadavu, Ms Seuvou credits her village upbringing and father’s fish and bakery businesses for giving her the skills she needed in her professional life.

While she enjoys serving customers and meeting new people, the 37-year-old’s big goal is to undertake banking studies so she can pursue a career in the financial sector.

“I want to go back to school so I can work in a bank,” she said.

The mum of two commutes from Nadera to work six days every week.

She hopes a career change can lead to opportunities to provide a better life for her children.

Ms Seuvou shared some insight with SunBiz about growing up in the village, her life goals, as well as her top local destinations for food and travel.

What do you enjoy about your customer service job?

Meeting new people every day and greeting customers.

Where do you like taking your family for a meal and to unwind?

I like taking my family to eat at the restaurants at Harbour Centre.

We also like going to Village 6 Cinemas.

Harbour Centre, Suva

What has been your favourite travel experience locally?

I would recommend my village, Navuatu in Kadavu to experience village life.

It’s close to the sea. You can just catch fish and you have food to eat.

Kadavu Island.

What are your top bucket list destinations locally?

I want to visit the Nausori Highlands. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and it’s right in the middle of nature.

Nausori Highlands

What makes Fiji such an attractive travel destination?

The friendly people and our Fijian culture. Tourists from the local resorts would visit our village sometimes and we would invite them to a soli and do a traditional meke.

Fijians entertain tourists, Fijians greet tourists with songs.
