The Walesi platform has 100 per cent coverage across the entire Fiji group. This was the statement from Walesi chief executive officer Sanjay Maharaj.

“There is a massive 95 per cent households covered by its Digital Terrestrial network and the remaining 5 per cent covered by Direct to Home Satellite coverage,” he said. Maharaj was replying after Fiji Television and Sky Pacific negotiation in sharing the broadcast fell through.

“Unlike Digicel’s Sky subscription based service, access to the Walesi platform is absolutely free for all Fijian households.” He indicated that Walesi currently has more than 200,000 Digital Set Top Boxes and more than 3000 direct to home Satellite dishes deployed around Fiji including the very far flung islands.

“The Walesi App is the most popular App in Fiji with over 800,000 registered users accessing nine free to air channels with includes Fiji One for live Rugby World Cup coverage.”

Maharaj added that Walesi has also extended its opening hours throughout the weekends with a 24/7 helpline to assist customers.
