Tourism Fiji Praises Downtown Hotel Investment Move

Tourism Fiji has praised the owners of the Nadi Downtown Hotel as another fantastic example of local owners investing in tourism.
This is after the owner revealed a $2 million investment to expand the hotel in the heart of Nadi Town, with an additional 20 rooms to add to the current inventory of 25.
Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Brent Hill said: “We need hotel rooms and tourism experiences that cater for all tourists.
“The team at Nadi Downtown Hotel is passionate, active, and works the market – they work hard, and it’s wonderful to see them getting the return they deserve for their hard work. Great to see this continued investment in tourism.
“This investment to Nadi Downtown Hotel, and their plans for Nadi are really exciting and well received by the industry,” he said.

Hotel director Chandra Prakash said this decision was made in response to the evolving preferences of travellers who increasingly sought the convenience and space offered by apartment-style accommodations.
He added that the right move came in response to the surging demand for accommodation in the popular tourist destination.
“This is the time to invest, the national airline is getting seats for our tourists and there is huge demand to be met,” he said.
“We have noticed that there is a lot of clientele shift at the moment and people including tourists are willing to pay a premium price for accommodation when they arrive in the Jetset town of Nadi.”
Mr Prakash added that the ambitious plan include not only increasing the room count but also giving the entire hotel a facelift, ensuring that guests enjoy a contemporary and comfortable stay.
He added that the construction of the new rooms was underway and should be online by the end of the next year, promising a refreshed atmosphere and enhanced amenities for guests.
Over $5 million project planned for end of 2024
Mr Prakash has also revealed their plans to build a brand-new 60-room apartment complex in the bustling Cawa Road in Martintar.
“We acquired these two lots over 20 years ago and plans are already in motion,” he said.
Nadi special administrator chair Lawrence Kumar has commended Nadi Downtown Hotel for making bold strides with a multi-million-dollar expansion project.
“This is a resounding testament to the growing confidence in the flourishing Nadi economy and Fiji as a whole,” said Mr Kumar.
