Rising featherweight boxer Mikaele Ravalaca is eager to win a national or regional title.

Speaking to SUNsports, the stylish Ravalaca said he would use his six- round super featherweight fight against Papua New Guinea’s Thadius Katua on November 4 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, as a steppingstone to a title fight.

The Ra boxer has been frustrated since most boxers in his weight division have been deliberately avoiding him,

“I’ve got this God-given talent and I’m ready to fight,” he said.

Ravalaca said he has nothing to gain from fighting Nathan ‘The Hornet’ Singh. Nathan has got no title, so it is no use fighting him,” he added.

The 20-year-old has challenged Fiji super featherweight and bantamweight champion Junior Binnu Singh for a title fight.

“I want Binnu next, but he has been hiding around like a mongoose. I’ll fight him at 55kg. Binnu fought Junior Farzan at 57kg and knocked him out in the sixth round. I fought Farzan at 57kg and he did not last one minute.”

For 51 to 54kg, Ravalaca said he was still able to fight Singh at that weight, but the fight had to take place next year to give him time to drop his weight.

“Right now, I’ve been fighting heavier opponents because none of those champions in my weight division want to fight me,” he added.
