Specialists Examine, Treat Problems Of Bones, Muscles And Joints

A total of 670 people in the Northern Division were able to access free specialised chiropractic clinic last week.
This was possible with the coordination between Jean Michel Cousteau Resort and six-member chiropractic team from Australia, led by David Leach.
The resort’s events coordinator, Iliesa Waqasokonibogi said the clinic was first conducted at the resort, then at Naweni Village in Savusavu, Seaqaqa Health Centre and Nabouwalu Subdivisional Hospital.
With over 180 patients attending Nabouwalu Sub-divisional Hospital, Doctor Aloisi Yacalagilagi said it was the largest clinic day at the hospital and indeed the first chiropractic clinic in Bua.
“We felt grateful to be the first group to provide chiropractic treatment to this wonderful community,” Dr Leach said.
“On Tuesday we travelled to Naweni Village with a truck transporting our equipment and treated about 110 people, including some in their houses who could not walk to the village hall.”
Then at Seaqaqa Health Centre, they set up in an undercover open-air space and around 210 patients attended for treatment.
He said this centre proved to be an excellent way of getting access to patients and exposing their treatment to other health providers.
He dealt with patients with back problems, pain on the neck, knees, shoulders, ankles and other joints pain. Most of them were farmers and rugby players.
He uses Gonstead method, checking the alignment of bones, provide treatment for repair and emphaises on manual therapy including adjustment and manipulation with particular focus on joint dysfunction.
“As we know, this is the first time they have brought six practitioners and gone into rural areas,” Mr Waqasokonibogi said
“They feel this was hugely successful for the first attempt and with more notice, they are sure the regional visits will grow in numbers.”
