Vatuwaqa Home Fire, Devi Pleads Help to Rebuild Home

Shiran Devi, 61, is pleading to authorities and individuals to help rebuild their home at Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa.
She could only cry and helplessly watchas her home of more than 20 years was being razed to the ground yesterday at around 10am.
It was hard for Ms Devi to accept that they could not save her three-bedroom home and belongings.
Joint investigations by the National Fire Authority and the Fiji Police Force are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Ms Devi said she did not know where the fire started.
“I left home with my grandson to buy some vegetables and halfway home I was told that my house was on fire. No one was home when the fire started,” Ms Devi said.
“We could not save anything and all we have now is the clothes we have on us. Now we must start from scratch again.”
Ms Devi and her family are sheltered at one of their neighbour’s house.
“I am pleading with those who are willing to help us rebuild our lives,” she said
Those willing to help can contact Ms Devi on 2004692 or 9532185.
