PSH Offers Free Treatment for Physically Abused Women

Women who are physically abused, beaten and hurt as a result of domestic violence or otherwise will be treated at Pacific Specialist Healthcare hospitals without any cost.
This was announced yesterday by the managing director of PSH Parvish Kumar while handing over a cheque of $25,000 to the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre in Nadi.
The cheque was received by the coordinator of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Shamima Ali.
“We are trying our best to cover all aspects of health however the issues of social health are very broad and very big,” Mr Kumar said.
“Ms Ali has been helping women of Fiji for decades.
“They are very well established and we are setting strategies now on how to work with women’s crisis centres and do our part in ensuring that women who have been hurt from physical abuse.
“If any woman is abused, beaten or hurt, they can always come to the hospital.
“We will cover all their treatment for free without any cost.”
Mr Kumar said women’s right in her reproductive health was her own right.
“We will be working closely with Ms Ali’s organisation and see how we can promote this as well because one of the United Nation sustainable development goals is that a female has her own rights over her own reproductive health.”
Ms Ali said the donation was substantial and the centre was always in need of funds.
“We are have good traditional donors in the New Zealand and Australian governments,” Ms Ali said
“This will come in very handy for that.”
