United Nations secretary general, Antonio Guterres has acknowledged Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Fiji’s commitment to world affairs.

Yesterday Mr Rabuka was in New York for the 78th session of the UN General Assembly to take part in debates on a variety of international topics, including climate change, world peace, security and sustainable development.

Mr Rabuka’s attendance at the general assembly demonstrates Fiji’s dedication to global collaboration and tackling the most serious issues of the day.

At the welcoming reception, secretary general Guterres congratulated Fiji for its active participation in UN issues and conveyed his thanks for Mr Rabuka’s commitment to world affairs.

Mr Guterres said Fiji’s contributions have been invaluable in promoting diplomacy, peace, and progress on the international stage.

Mr Rabuka’s attendance at the UN General Assembly coincides with the assembly of world leaders to address a number of pressing issues that call for international collaboration and solidarity.

Fiji has the chance to convey its viewpoint and participate in the debates about topics with broad significance.

In addition to participating in several panel discussions and forums at the UN, Prime Minister Rabuka will hold bilateral talks with other world leaders, enhancing Fiji’s position in diplomacy and cooperation on the global stage.
