Fire Rugby Team Wins Katonivere Shield

The Fire rugby team is crowned the Macuata Rugby Union’s club competition champions by winning the Katonivere Shield on Saturday.

Fire beat Police 23-10 in the final at All Saints Secondary School ground, Labasa.

Former Macuata 15s women’s coach, Motu Lalagavesi, congratulated Fire for winning thetitle.

“It’s very competitive at the Macuata club games and this is a good platform to unleash the province’s future stars,” she said.

Lalagavesi said more competitions should be organised.

“The MRU management and games committee must organise other alternative tournaments to keep the players fit for next season.

“A humble request to players is to keep up with their fitness as we now head into the festive season. The aim is to perform better next year,” she added.
