Students and old scholars of Adi Cakobau School (ACS) were reminded yesterday of the importance of fearing the Lord when striving to be empowered in society.

This was the message from the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma outgoing president, Reverend Ili Vunisuwai during the ACS 75th jubilee religious service at the school hall at Sawani, Naitasiri.
Rev Vunisuwai was chief guest.

“Empowering an individual will not be possible if you don’t fear God,” he said.

The service was aimed at giving back to the church, which had been part of the school since its establishment 75 years ago.

The jubilee’s theme is ACSOG Sisterhood: Visionary, Resilient, Transcendent Women empowerment.
Rev Vunisuwai said fearing God should be embedded in every individual if they wanted to be an empowerment.

“In order for these children to fear the Lord, they need to have the three pillars. They are knowing God, loving God and trusting God,” he said.

ACS Old Scholars Association president Ilisapeci Movono said the week-long celebration consisted of many events.

“Apart from plans to have a farewell for the outgoing president, the church has been responsible for the school since it started 75 years ago, under the Davuilevu Circuit,” she shared.

The school received a whole set of holy communion glassware from ACSOSA Nausori branch and the New Zealand OG Association renovated the school’s dry shed which cost $20,000.
