SODELPA discredits misinformation

The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has debunked misinformation about the chartered Fiji Air ways flight carrying more than 200 passengers from Fiji and the Pacific to Tel-Aviv, Israel, on Thursday, September 28.
Information widely shared on social media claimed SODELPA would fundraise to pay for the balance of the chartered airplane when everyone returned.
SODELPA’s general secretary, Viliame Takayawa, questioned the motive of those spreading misinformation online.
He also asked where they were getting their wrong information from.
Mr Takawaya clarified that the plane was chartered and everyone contributed collectively to meet the cost of the airline travelling on this route.
“It was chartered by organisers, we are not the organisers,” Mr Takayawa said.
“I don’t understand why some individuals are disseminating false information.
The charter was arranged by Friends of Israel in the Pacific. It constitutes a private agreement among the members of Friends of Israel, who covered the flight cost. It has no connection at all to us.”
The Feast of Tabernacles is being held at Ein Gev, Galilee, with more than 2000 followers from 80 countries attending this annual event.
The Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot, is the third significant annual pilgrimage festival during which Jews gathers in Jerusalem, not only to commemorate God’s provision in the wilderness, but also to anticipate the promised messianic age when all nations will converge on Jerusalem to worship the Lord.
Two hundred and fifty passengers from Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa travelled to Israel on Fiji Airways.
The chartered plane carrying the delegation will return on October 12.
