FNU West Open Day Hailed a Success

The Fiji National University’s (FNU) Open Day held in the Western Division on 6 October 2023 was hailed a success.
Students from about 34 schools attended the Open Day at Natabua Campus while at Namaka Campus, students turned up with their teachers from various schools.
Students from schools as far as Magodro Secondary School and Sigatoka Valley Secondary School departed their respective venues as early as 6am to be part of the 2023 FNU Open Day.
Head of Natabua Campus, Perry Gabriel defined the Open Day as a ‘grand success’.
“I would like to thank the staff and students of Natabua Campus, Naceva (National Training and Productivity Centre) and Ba Campus for the tremendous support and preparation towards the 2023 FNU Open Day,” said Perry.
“I would also like to acknowledge our sponsors, Coca Cola Euro Pacific, Vodafone Fiji, CJ Patel, Telecom Fiji Limited, Plan International, Communications Fiji Limited, Fiji Water, Vinod Patel, CK’s Mega Bargain, Flour Mills of Fiji, The Fiji Times, Fiji Sun, Pacific Energy, Jack’s of Fiji, Star Printery, Brother International, Asco Motors and GEM Fiji.”
“Our industry partners that were present at Natabua Campus, Mix FM, Bank of South Pacific, Fiji Police Force, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Service, Consumer Council of Fiji, iLagi Photography Fiji, Blackbox Photobooth, not forgetting the FNU students enterprise group for the food and the Natabua Campus band, led by the Lecturer in Music Education, Lasarusa Daveta for the entertainment and also renowned magician, Junior Mangal for drawing the students in.”
“To the best of my knowledge, this was the best organised Open Day having the largest number of students turning up at Natabua Campus.”
Head of Ba Campus, Niraj Dharmendra also commended the University students and staff for working together to provide an exciting Open Day experience for high school students and visitors.
“The displays at this year’s Open Day were very nicely set out and the schools were very interested in looking at the projects that were constructed by the different departments,” he said.
“Most of the students were very eager to join FNU, and I am glad that our TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) programmes were very much marketed.”
It was also a successful one for Namaka Campus after the campus, led by the Head of Campus and the Head of School Economics and Finance, Rusi Vakaloloma, hosted the campus’s own Open Day after six years.
