Tourism industry workers, like spa therapist Zavin Shah, lost their jobs and livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms Shah turned that setback into an opportunity to pursue a career in hair and make-up.

“After the pandemic, I mustered up the courage to invest in my business and become a freelance hair and make-up artist,” she said.

“I am glad I made that decision.”

Ms Shah was born in Labasa and attended 11 different schools in Taveuni, Labasa, Savusavu, Sigatoka and Suva for her parents’ jobs as teachers.

She trained at Pivot Point Fiji Institute to obtain an advanced diploma in esthetics and was awarded the dux title in 2015.

The 30-year-old shared some of her favourite local destinations with SunBiz for good food, family experiences, and travel.
