Nadi Airport Evolves In 25-Year Master Plan

With all these planned developments, we stand on the precipice of a remarkable journey.
This was how Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka referred to the progress in Fiji’s aviation industry.
While addressing Fiji Airports, Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF), Air Terminal Services (ATS) Fiji, and Fiji Airways at the Fiji Airports headquarters in Namaka, Nadi yesterday, he urged personnel to recommit efforts to serve the aviation community.
He also acknowledged landowners for extending their co-operation in the use of their resources for strategic and beneficial purposes of the industry.
“We are dedicated to enhancing infrastructure, passenger experience, and ensuring our commercial viability,” he said.
“Our collective vision is one of innovation, sustainability, and unwavering commitment to the people and nation of Fiji.
“Together, we’ll continue to elevate our aviation industry and the quality of life for all Fijians.”
Investments
To keep pace with the growth and the anticipated demands of the next two decades, Fiji Airports Limited was investing in infrastructure expansion, Mr Rabuka said.
Nadi International Airport is expected to continue to evolve in line with its 2018 to 2043 master plan.
“This expansion includes extending the apron, enhancing departure and arrival facilities, adding new aerobridges, and developing a domestic airport adjacent to the international terminal, among other projects,” he said.
“The sustainability of these projects and their resilience to climate change are paramount.
“Initiatives such as a solar farm project, halogen-to-LED light upgrades, waste recycling systems, and carbon emission reduction plans are underway.”
