Victim of Domestic Violence Laid to Rest
Kelera Sivo was laid to rest at the family burial ground at Narewa, Nadi on November 2, 2023.

Kelera Sivo was remembered as a person who went through many storms in life even till her last breath.

The 38-year-old is alleged to have been brutally assaulted by her husband, Waisea Turagadrau, in the presence of their five young children at their home in Narewa, Nadi on Saturday.

This horrific case of domestic violence led to her death on Sunday.

Her husband, 39, has been charged with one count of murder and placed on remand at the Natabua Remand Centre in Lautoka.

Families, relatives and friends gathered at the family home in Narewa to farewell Ms Maqu.

During the burial church service, Nemani Lotawa, spoke on behalf of the family.

“She was a person full of life. She enjoyed socialising with people, but doesn’t share much of her problems,” Mr Lotawa said.

“For almost every storm of life she went through she always kept it to herself.

Unfortunately, she has learned to persevere till her last breath.”

While the family is saddened by the incident that left her children without a mother they will render utmost support for her young children.

Ms Sivo was buried at their family burial ground in Narewa.

Her five children will be looked after by her elder siblings.
