Parents Shattered Over Loss of Only Son

Who will run our errands now?
That was the question posed by Tony Sam McPherson, 64, whose son was allegedly hit by a Fiji Sugar Corporation locomotive in Lautoka on Monday.
Dead is Mosese Tora McPherson, 43, a security officer at Mims Motors, who resides at Tore Settlement in Vitogo, Lautoka.
“He was my only son, a truly mum’s boy,” Mr McPherson said.
“He would run errands for us; any time we wanted something, he would always be ready. That was his nature.
“He has been single all this time. Whenever I would ask him to get married, he would tell me to look for a wife for him rather than do it himself.”
Mr McPherson recalled their conversation before their untimely farewell because it was another ordinary day when he returned home from work.
“It is sad that he is no longer around us. This has been heavy on my heart since yesterday,” he said.
Mims Motors general manager Mohammed Rashiq said: “In this world, it is hard to find an honest man like him, although there are ups and downs.”
“I am disheartened and sad at the same time to lose someone like him,” he said.
Police spokesperson Warne Bautolu said the incident happened around llam at the Naikabula rail bridge, near the HART Home on Monday.
“Investigation is underway,” he said.
When contacted yesterday, Fiji Sugar Corporation said a statement would be made today.
