Japan Govt Solves NPS Water Woes

Nawaisomo Primary School’s (NPS) challenges over the past years for adequate water supply is now over.
It was solved after the Government of Japan stepped in, together with Habitat for Humanity Fiji, to supply a new water system for the school in Naitasiri Province.
At the handover, Charge d’affaires interim of Japan Tanaka Kenichiro, said the improvement of water and sanitation environment at NPS would enhance the water quality and sanitation standards for about 100 individuals.
The total cost of the project is estimated at around $400,000.
“This project is being implemented under the Government of Japan’s grassroots grant assistance scheme,” Mr Kenichiro said.
“We are glad the project is being done here up in the highlands because they are always experiencing lack of adequate clean water supply, and this led to some challenges.’’
Mr Kenichiro praised efforts by Habitat for Humanity Fiji employees for their professional workmanship on the project.
