Veteran goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva and Roy Krishna have been named co-captains of the Fiji men’s football team to the Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Mateisuva earned the prestigious role and will work alongside seasoned international professional footballer Roy Krishna, who is a vital asset to the squad.

Mateisuva’s leadership qualities and on-field prowess have secured him a central position in steering the team towards success.

Crafty midfielder Tevita Waranivalu has been named vice-captain, bringing his experience and strategic acumen to complement the captaincy duo.

The combination of Mateisuva, Krishna, and Waranivalu forms a robust leadership core that promises to guide the team with resilience and determination.

The presentation event on Friday night was not only a platform to reveal the squad but also a celebration of diversity and cultural richness.

A special Diwali celebration added a vibrant touch to the occasion, showcasing the team’s commitment to embracing cultural diversity. Attendees were treated to captivating cultural performances and entertainment that reflected the unity within the team.

Krishna, who arrived from India early Friday morning, wasted no time in joining the team’s training session.
Despite the jet lag and the demands of international travel, Krishna’s swift integration into the team activities proved his dedication to the team’s mission.
