Festival Of Lights Unite FNU Staff, Students

Diwali, the captivating festival of lights, is a celebration that transcends cultural boundaries, bringing us together in a tapestry of joy, says Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba.
The Fiji National University acting vice-chancellor said Diwali also carried profound symbolism, representing the victory of light over darkness and the ultimate triumph of goodness over evil.
All staff in different campuses celebrated Diwali this week.
“This special day also reminds me of the vibrant community at FNU, where a diverse group of staff and students come together to share in the joy of learning and personal growth,” Professor Nabobo-Baba said.
“Diwali serves as a powerful reminder to embody the light that dispels ignorance, hatred, and negativity.”
She said each diya we became a symbol of hope, knowledge, and compassion.
“This year, let us enjoy the warmth of togetherness, savour the delightful sweets and dishes, and exchange heartfelt gifts,” she said.
“Diwali is a time to strengthen the bonds that make life profoundly beautiful, cherishing the love and unwavering support of our dear family, staff and friends and the companionship of our fellow FNU peers and mentors.”
Diwali signifies new beginnings.
“It’s a chance to leave behind past grievances and negativity and welcome the future with open hearts, embracing the opportunities that lie ahead, both in our academic pursuits and personal lives,” she said.
“May the divine radiance of the diyas fill your homes with profound peace and serenity as we continue to shine brightly as proud members of the FNU family.”
