Poor road conditions at Naselai Village outside Nausori Town is causing a lot of problems for motorists, students and villagers.

Villager Aisake Taqiri said the road condition had worsened over the weeks because no repairs had been done.

“Some Fiji Roads Authority workers only come to inspect the road, but since then there hasn’t been any work done,” he said.

“I had written a few letters to authorities regarding the issue, but there had been no response,” said Mr Taqiri said.

He said that during dry weather, homes were covered with dust.

“We always have our house closed so that dust won’t come in, and we aren’t able to use the balcony if we have visitors,” he said.

He said taxi and bus operators, time and again, have refused to service their area because of the poor road conditions.

“Since the road conditions have gone worse, no vehicle wants to go to the area, and residents have to walk to the main road, which is difficult for elderly people.”

“We have to wait for more than one hour before boarding a vehicle.”

FRA said they worked on the Naselai section last week as part of their Rip and Remake programme.

FRA said several sections of the road had been affected by the inclement weather, resulting in some challenging driving conditions.

“We advise motorists to exercise caution and drive carefully while navigating through these areas.”

“Once the weather clears up, we will promptly attend to these areas to ensure smoother and safer travel for everyone,” says the FRA.
