More than 60 personnel from the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and their Sukuna Bowl rugby squad members were yesterday part of the Tropical Cyclone Mal clean-up in the Western Division, mainly Nadi.

Team managress Major Ana Vuniwaqa said the soldiers were deployed to areas affected – Wailoaloa and Nadi town.

“Yesterday we also anticipated the bad weather like anybody else, expecting today to be a rest day,” she said.

“Given the weather cleared out, as there was needed assistance in clearing.

Nadi Town Council special administrators chair Lawrence Kumar thanked the soldiers for helping clean Nadi Town.

Meanwhile, at the Nadi International Airport yesterday, three FIVB-accredited volleyball umpires were stranded after many international flights were postponed.
