Thirteen micro-entrepreneurs undertook a three-day training course to help them enhance their businesses.

They were the recipients of its Trade Enhancement Programme (TEP) grants.

The course was organised by the Ministry of Trade to deliver financial literacy and business management training for the grant recipients. The 13 micro-entrepreneurs completed the course and received certificates on Thursday.

TEP funding is designed to help micro-entrepreneurs run their businesses effectively and make informed financial decisions.

TEP grants are paid to vendors and supply recipients with the items they need for their businesses, said trainer Aslam Khan.

Mr Khan was one of two trainers from the ministry who travels around the country to upskill hundreds of participants.

He conducted has 22 workshops and trained more than 500 people between August 2022 and July 2023.

“They get trained first before they receive materials. These businesses are already registered and up and running,” he said.

The participants who completed the training this week studied cash flow, which Mr Khan said was critical for the entrepreneurs.

Nelly Teremita was one of them.

Before the training, she did not know how to calculate the cost of her garments so she could determine her prices.

The course allowed Ms Teremita to develop fundamental business skills which she could now apply.
