Bred Bank chief executive officer, Thierry Charras-Gillot, says the bank spent $4 million to set up the North branch, which would employ 10 retail staff and a small medium enterprise (SME) manager.

Minister for Sugar Industry and Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Charan Jeath Singh, labelled the opening as a new chapter in the financial institution of the economy in Vanua Levu.

Mr Charras-Gillot said in the 10 years since its establishment in Fiji, the bank had made small, but, solid steps.

Labasa Town Council special administrator, Ami Kohli, said the state-of-the-art facilities would be key to understanding the modern means of banking.

First ADM machine in North to satisfy customers

The first of-its-kind automated deposit machine (ADM) services would be installed at the bank’s Labasa branch and open to public for usage.

The purpose of the ADM is to reduce waiting time for customers to safely deposit cash.

Seaqaqa businessman, Jonathan Batisarisari, said SMEs would have another opportunity to prosper under the introduction of Bred Bank’s Labasa branch.
