Thieves Becoming Smarter

Four businesses along Harris Road in Suva were allegedly burgled on Sunday night.
They are Oceania Agencies, Oceania Shipping Services, Tian Yi Shipping Services and Chengyi Fiji Consultancy.
Chengyi Fiji Consultancy director Sam Huang came to know about the incident when he received a call early yesterday morning to enlighten him of what had happened.
He said thieves in the country were becoming smarter with their choice of things to steal.
“They know that if they take expensive stuff, those things will get traced so they only took the easy stuff like cigarettes, liquor and cash,” Mr Huang said.
“I lost one gross of cigarettes which I brought from Hong Kong, one Blue Label, one Black Label, two vodkas and petty cash of around $40, which was all in coins.”
He said that the businesses next to him also had cigarettes and cash stolen from them.
When Fiji Sun visited these businesses yesterday, a broken padlock was still lying on the floor outside Chengyi Fiji Consultancy.
Divisional Police Commander Central, Farasiko Matawalu confirmed that reports have been lodged with Totogo Police Station and investigations were ongoing.
