George “Fiji” funeral details to be announced soon

The funeral arrangements for George “Fiji” Veikoso are expected to be announced shortly, with plans for a “big funeral” underway.
Homecoming Festival event director Moe Coffey said the family “need a little bit more time” to finalise the details before making a public announcement.
“Fiji” passed away last month in Suva at the age of 55. Known as the king of island reggae, he was widely respected across the regional entertainment industry.

Born in Tailevu on May 10, 1970, George “Fiji” Veikoso began his music career earning just $5 for his first professional gig.
He later moved to Hawaii in 1987, where he expanded his musical journey by blending reggae, R&B, and traditional island rhythms. He also wrote songs for international artists, including Tyrese Gibson.
His passing shocked fans, who were eagerly awaiting his second Homecoming Festival scheduled for next month.
