Spiritual discipline played key role in helping 18 year - old Joshua Toganivalu achieve academic excellence at Queen Victoria School.

The young man from Lomanikoro, Bau Island, with maternal ties to Vunibau, Serua. Mr Toganivalu has spent five years at QVS from Year 9 to Year 13.

This year, his dedication paid off as he received multiple top awards which included :-

1. Best in Accounting - 95

2. Best in Economics - 96

3. Best in Computer Studies - 94

Faith, for Mr Toganivalu, became the anchor that guided him through long nights and demanding schedules.

He credits his spiritual discipline for helping him stay focused, disciplined, and resilient.

Looking ahead, Mr Toganivalu is preparing for his next big step.

As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he has been assigned to serve a mission in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

After his mission, he plans to study Forensic Accounting, a field that combines his love for numbers with his desire to make a positive impact.

Mr Toganivalu dedicates his achievements to his family, especially his grandfather, his namesake in Vunibau, who inspired him from a young age.

“He has always been one of my biggest motivations, along with my parents,” he said.

But Mr Toganivalu, he admits the journey was not always easy.

Time management was one of his biggest challenges as life in boarding school was different.

Life in the boarding school, balancing classes, assignments, and personal study, often felt overwhelming.

“There were times I wanted to give up,” he said.

“But what kept me going was my Seminary program. Through scripture reading, prayer, and study, I found strength and trust in the Lord.”

To students following in his footsteps, he offers a simple message.

“Doubt not. Don’t worry about what people say. Keep pushing and set goals you can achieve.”
