A senior teacher at one of the Central Division’s prominent secondary schools is under investigation after allegedly engaging in appalling behaviour in the school compound last weekend.

Sources say the incident has shocked staff, students and old scholars, raising serious questions about the teacher’s conduct.

According to a close source, the teacher, who was reportedly intoxicated, allegedly entertained two young men inside his office last Friday night. The alleged incident was reportedly discovered by the school security officer.

Images of the incident circulated widely among past staff and students, further fuelling outrage and concern about the breach of school rules and professional ethics.

Another senior school staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident yesterday. The said teacher is still holding classes.

"We can confirm that those in the images were not part of the school community (outsiders), apart from the senior teacher," the staff member said.

The staff member added the matter was now being investigated by the school management before being referred to the school board, and subsequently forwarded to the Ministry of Education.

However, last night the school principal downplayed the incident but said that the report was now with the Education Ministry.

When contacted, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro said he had yet to receive an official report regarding the matter.
