FijiFirst leader Voreqe Bainimarama is the most popular person in Fiji, says new member of parliament, Faiyaz Koya.

“It’s time that people of Fiji recognise Mr Bainimarama.”

He said the hard work put in by all the party candidates was through the vision of their leader.

“He is just a wonderful human being; he stands up for everybody and I think it was absolutely time that the country recognised it and the people have done so,” Mr Koya said.

“The people have spoken; he is the most popular person in Fiji by far.

“Everything is done for Fiji and we will all be there to support him wholeheartedly over the next four years.”

Mr Koya had entered the race against his brother Faizal Koya who stood for the National Federation Federation Party.

He says that although he entered the race quite late, he was elated by the love and support shown by the people.

“It was about two weeks or so to get everything out, but the message was the same throughout for everybody and as you can see great tactics worked perfectly well,” Mr Koya said.

He had grown up in a political environment with his father being the late Siddiq Koya, the former leader of the NFP.

“As a child I had grown up around a political atmosphere so I have seen what has happened before but this has been by far the best- absolutely the best,” Mr Koya said.

He said the only way to describe this election was, “it is as free and as fair as you can get.”

In the Final national results tally, 875 people voted for Mr Koya.
