Tanoa Group Working To Repair Rakiraki Property, Get Open Again

The Tanoa Group is working extremely hard to repair the damage sustained by the Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel in Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Tanoa Group director, Rohit Reddy, confirmed they sustained quite a lot of damage in Tanoa Rakiraki and were at the moment clearing up all the damage left behind by the cyclone.

Mr Reddy said the work will begin soon. However, he was unable to disclose the time frame as they are trying to assess the extent of the damage.

“Once the cleanup is done, works will begin. The time frame cannot be given until a full assessment has been done where our engineers and architects, quantity surveyors have made their assessment,” he said.

 

Tanoa in Tonga

Meanwhile, Mr Reddy further highlighted that the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel, in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, bought the past year, is 12 months into the refurbishment.

“We are undertaking a full refurbishment of the hotel and it is well on track,” he said.

Mr Reddy added there is an enormous amount of work to be done.

“We do not have a finalised date when we will open that property but when we do, it will be the very best Hotel in Nuku’alofa,” he said.

“Tanoa is a Pacific group. We have our presence in Fiji, Samoa, New Zealand and now one we are extending our reach into Tonga. Our aim is to be the number one hotel in Nukualofa.”

He said about 140 to 150 people will be employed when it’s open for business.

“It will be by far the largest hotel in Nukualofa. We plan on offering food and beverage services that are not currently available,” Mr Reddy said.

The Tanoa Tusitala in Apia is already the main business hotel in Samoa, and popular with tourists.
