The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) personnel on peacekeeping duty in Lebanon celebrated their Christmas in style. RFMF chief of staff Colonel Ratu Jone Kalouniwai said Christmas was normal for peacekeepers.

“They’re going to organise their own celebrations,” he said. He said the Commander RFMF Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto during a Christmas service, at Tuvasu Hall at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua, reminded men and women of the RFMF to spend Christmas with their families.

But he said some were away on overseas peacekeeping duties and he had wished them well this festive season.

He said soldiers, who were away last Christmas, should celebrate with their families and spend quality time with them during the festive season. Colonel Ratu Kalouniwai said the RFMF Commander’s Christmas message had been sent to those serving on peacekeeping missions overseas.

The RFMF peacekeepers are stationed in the Golan Heights, between Israel and Syria; Lebanon; the Sinai and South Sudan. Others serve as the United Nations Guard Force in Iraq.
