The Ba women’s team already has the Digicel Women’s Super League title in the bag despite the result of their last match this Saturday.

The Women in Black currently lead the table with 24 points, nine points ahead of Labasa.

They have been thrashing other districts throughout the season with the highest goal difference, 16-1, against Tailevu Naitasiri.

Last week they thrashed Labasa, 6-1, and Suva 7-0.

And this Saturday, 12-year-old Sisilia Tuvou Kuladina will start for the side in their match against Rewa at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.

Coach, Charlene Lockington said the Year 8 Karavi Public School student is not the first primary school student to play at district level.

“For Ba, we have a development pathway for players – starting from primary school,” Lockington said.

“That is why we have been a good side. There are about more than ten girls who are part of the national squad.

“We have a wide player base and other teams need to be competitive.

“There is a need for more grassroot development in the districts.”

Meanhile, Ba’s Cema Nasau and Luisa Tamanitoakula currently top the goal scorer of the season with 17 goals each.

Ba will face Rewa this Saturday at 2pm at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba while Labasa play Suva at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva.
